Meetings

SCSG holds regular meetings throughout the year with invited speakers who present on a wide range of construction safety related topics. There is also the opportunity to share ideas and ask for help from the wealth of experience present at each meeting.

These meetings are usually held on a Thursday at the Hilcroft Hotel in Whitburn though check the events list below for more details.

    SCSG Future Plans Discussion

    A discussion on the Group. The Group since its inception in 1969 has always focussed on the HSE’s areas of concern in Scotland however recently direct contact has been lost for the members as no HSE representatives now attend the meeting as they do not have staff and time available to provide information and listen to the industries comments. The Group and its members spend considerable amounts of time on “Working well together” initiatives to try to improve health and safety standards in smaller businesses.
    We would also like to discuss topics such as membership fees, whether monthly meetings are still the right way to be going, member involvement etc.

    Venue Information
    Vehicle access to the venue is from Glenlockhart Road; please park in car park A (take first left once on site, then left again at the mini roundabout; car park A is at the bottom of the slope); disabled car parking is in car park H, which is at the top of the hill adjacent to the building. The Entrance to the Rivers Suite is on the right-hand side of the stone buildings as you look up from the car park (North-Westerly side).

    Be aware that you MUST provide your car registration number at the barrier on arrival (and if the barrier is up you should still either press the buzzer or go straight to security on arrival). Napier has advised us that if you fail to provide your car registration details you may be fined. We would like to avoid this happening and hope that you will help by providing your car registration details on arrival.
    There may be additional parking on the roads around Craiglockhart but these will be subject to Edinburgh City Council regulations: please make sure you park legally.
    Alternatively – why don’t you use public transport? There are several Lothian bus routes that pass the Campus, please see our website for details of the venue and travel links.
